A .U2K file is a U2K Ransomware Encrypted File, created by N/A.

Open with System Restore. Available for Windows.

What is a .U2K file?

A file that ends in .U2K is a file that has been locked by a bad computer program called U2K ransomware. This means someone has put a lock on your file, like a document or a picture, without your permission. The file is kept hostage, which means you can't open or use it because it's been encrypted, or put into a secret code.

To try and fix this, you might use something called System Restore on your computer. This doesn't open the file, but it might help get your computer back to how it was before the bad program locked your files.

U2K ransomware works by sneaking into your computer, usually pretending to be something else that seems safe. Once it's in, it changes your files by adding ".u2k" to the end of their names. So, if you had a picture called "holiday.jpg," it would change to "holiday.jpg.u2k." Then, it leaves a note, usually called ReadMe.txt, telling you how you can pay them to unlock your files. They want you to use something called Tor Browser to do this.

Your computer might have gotten this ransomware if you downloaded something that didn't come from a trustworthy source. For example, there's a specific program called Windows_Loader_v2.2.2.exe, which some people use to make their Windows 7 work without paying for it. This program might have brought the U2K ransomware into your computer.

In simple terms, if you see a file with .U2K at the end, it means a bad program has locked your file, and you'll need to take steps to try and fix your computer.
