What is a .UED file?
A .UED file is a type of computer file called a Universal Environmental Data file. It is mainly used by two programs named ClimGen and CropSyst. These programs are special tools developed by the Washington State University Biological Systems Engineering Department. They are used to study and make predictions about the weather and the environment. The .UED file stores weather information from the past, which these programs can analyze.
To create a .UED file, you need some weather data that is not already in a .UED format, a special file called a .TDF file, and to use a tool called the UED import wizard. This process turns the original weather data into a .UED file that ClimGen and CropSyst can use.
Because .UED files are binary files, they can hold a lot of information in a small amount of space. This is great for saving lots of data, but it also means that if you try to open a .UED file just to look at it, you won't be able to understand the information inside. It's not written in a way that people can read without using the special programs designed to work with these files.
