.VET File Extension

A .VET file is a Lectra Cutter's Must File, created by Lectra.

Open with Lectra Modaris. Available for Windows.

What is a .VET file?

The .VET file is a special kind of computer file used by people who design clothes. It works with a program called Lectra Modaris, which helps designers create patterns for different types of clothing like men's, women's, and children's wear. The .VET file contains important information about how a piece of clothing should be made. This includes the style of the clothing and a list of all the different parts that need to be cut out of fabric to make it.

To use a .VET file, you also need another file called an .IBA file. The .IBA file has the shapes and sizes of all the pieces that the .VET file talks about. Together, these two files help a designer see how to cut the fabric and assemble the clothing.

You can open .VET files with a few different programs besides Lectra Modaris. Some of these programs are SoftFashion StyleCAD and PAD Pattern Design. These programs let designers create and change their clothing designs on a computer.

Once a designer is happy with their design, they can send the information from the .VET and .IBA files to a special machine that cuts the fabric into the right shapes. This makes it much easier and faster to make new clothes.

However, it's important to know that Lectra Modaris has updated and now uses a different type of file called .MDL files instead of .VET and .IBA files for new designs. This means if you're using the latest version of Lectra Modaris, you might not be working with .VET files anymore.
