What is a .VIBE file?
A .VIBE file is a special kind of file used by an app called SensationSoft VibePlayer, which is made for Android devices like smartphones and tablets. This app is pretty cool because it lets you not just watch videos or listen to music, but also feel vibrations that match what's happening in the media. So, if you're watching a movie or listening to a song on VibePlayer, and there's a big explosion or a deep bass note, you might feel a buzz or shake from your device at the same time.
The .VIBE file contains what's called haptic data. This is a fancy way of saying it has information that tells the device when to vibrate while the media is playing. It works together with your music or video files, like those in .MP3 (music) or .MP4 (video) formats. When you play these files in VibePlayer, the app checks if there's a matching .VIBE file and uses it to make the vibrations happen at just the right moments.
You can make your own .VIBE files using VibePlayer. Let's say you're listening to a song, and you want your device to vibrate at certain parts of the music. You can do this by marking those spots in the app, and it saves these marks in a .VIBE file. This file needs to be kept in the same place as the song or video it's meant to work with. Also, it's named after the media file but with ".vibe" at the end. For example, if your video file is named "holiday.mkv," the VIBE file would be "holiday.mkv.vibe." Even though .VIBE files are meant to be used with VibePlayer, you can actually open and look at them using any text editor, like Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac. This is because the information inside them is saved in plain text. However, to really use them as intended—to add vibrations to your media—you'll need to use them with the VibePlayer app on an Android device.
