What is a .VPR file?
A .VPR file is a type of file used by the music software called YAMAHA VOCALOID5 or VOCALOID6. This software is used by musicians to make songs with computer-generated voices. The .VPR file keeps all the important parts of a song project, like the musical notes, the words of the song (lyrics), and the artificial singing voice. This kind of file started to be used when VOCALOID5 was released, and it was made to take the place of an older type of file called .VSQX.
To open a .VPR file, you need to use the YAMAHA VOCALOID5 or VOCALOID6 program. These are the latest versions of the VOCALOID software. If you have an older song project saved in a .VSQX file from an earlier version of VOCALOID, you can still open it in VOCALOID5 or VOCALOID6. When you do this, the software will change the .VSQX file into a .VPR file so it can work with the new version.
In simple terms, if you're making music with VOCALOID and you save your work, it gets saved as a .VPR file if you're using the fifth or sixth version of the software. This file has everything your song needs, and you can open it again later in VOCALOID5 or VOCALOID6 to keep working on your music.
