Instead, it works together with another file called a .VMC file, which is the configuration file for the virtual machine. The .VMC file keeps track of the .VSV files and uses them to restore the virtual machine to a saved state.
It's important to note that the size of a .VSV file is directly related to the amount of memory allocated to the virtual machine. For example, if the virtual machine is set up with 512MB of RAM, the .VSV file will also be 512MB in size.
Although the programs that primarily use .VSV files, such as Microsoft Windows Virtual PC and Microsoft Virtual Server, are discontinued, they might still be used in some environments or available in older systems.
