What is a .XRY file?
The .XRY file extension is associated with a type of data file known as an XRY Data File. These files are created using a software program called XRY, which is specifically designed for retrieving data from mobile phones for forensic analysis. An XRY Data File can include a variety of information extracted from a mobile phone, such as the phone's contact list, history of calls, text messages, images, calendar entries, notes, and audio files. All of this information is compiled and saved into one single file that has the ".xry" extension.
To create an XRY file, a device known as the XRY communication unit is used. This unit can connect to a mobile phone through different methods including USB, Bluetooth, or infrared connections. Once the data is retrieved, it is stored in the .XRY file format.
For viewing the contents of an XRY file, specific software is required. The primary program used to open these files is called Micro Systemation XRY. Additionally, there is a free application known as Micro Systemation XRY Reader, which allows users to view the data contained in XRY files on a computer. This makes it easier for forensic professionals to analyze the data collected from mobile phones in a secure and organized manner.
