What is a .YOG file?
A .YOG file is a type of video file that is made using a program called Outerra. Outerra is a special computer program that lets people create very detailed simulations of places on Earth and in space, almost like creating your own little world or exploring outer space on your computer. When you capture or record a video of what you're doing in Outerra, it saves that video as a .YOG file. This .YOG file keeps the video in a special format that's designed to work well with Outerra, using something called YCoCg color space, but the Outerra developers just call it "yog" for short.
If you have a .YOG file and you want to watch it or use it somewhere else, you might need to change it into a different type of video file first. There's a tool that comes with Outerra called the Outerra YOG Converter that can help you do this. This converter can take your .YOG file and turn it into a more common video file type, like .AVI, which is a type of video file that many video players and editing programs can open and use.
The Outerra YOG Converter works by using some scripts, which are like little sets of instructions for your computer. There's one script called conv.bat that changes the .YOG video into an .AVI video. There's also another script called conv4edit.bat that changes the .YOG video into a special kind of .AVI video that's easier to edit, breaking it down frame by frame. This can be really useful if you want to make changes to your video or edit it to look just the way you want.
