What is a .ART60 file?
An ART60 file is a type of embroidery design file specifically created by a program called BERNINA ARTlink, starting from its version 6. This file format includes all the necessary details for embroidery, such as the pattern of stitches, the colors of threads to be used, a small preview image of the design, and additional information about the design.
To open an ART60 file, you need to use BERNINA ARTlink, which is an application designed for viewing and exporting embroidery designs. This program allows users to open and modify ART60 files if they are using version 6 or any later version of the software. It's important to note that earlier versions of ARTlink (before version 6) do not use the ART60 format; they use the ART format instead. From version 5 onwards, ARTlink started using file extensions that correspond to the version number, such as .ART50 for version 5, .ART60 for version 6, and so on.
If you want to create an ART60 file using BERNINA ARTlink, you simply need to start a new embroidery design in the program, and once you are done, go to the "File" menu, select "Save" or "Save As," and then choose ART60 from the "Save as type" dropdown menu.
To convert an ART60 file into another embroidery file format that your specific sewing machine can read, you can use the export feature in ARTlink. Go to "File" → "Export Machine File...," and select the format you need, such as .EXP, .PES, or .JEF among others. Once the file is converted, you can transfer it to a USB drive or directly to your sewing machine if it's connected to your computer. This is done by either using the file management tools on your computer (like File Explorer for Windows or Finder for macOS) or by using the "Write to Card/Machine..." option in ARTlink. After transferring, safely eject the USB drive from your computer, plug it into your sewing machine, and you're ready to start embroidering your design onto fabric.
