What is a .EIUR file?

A file that ends in .eiur is a file that has been locked by a harmful computer program called EIUR ransomware. This means that the file has been changed in a way that you can't open or use it anymore. The .eiur at the end of the file name is a sign that the file has been affected by this ransomware. Unfortunately, once a file has been encrypted by EIUR ransomware, it's not possible to get it back to how it was before.

To try and deal with files that have been locked by EIUR ransomware, you might think about using a feature on your computer called System Restore. However, it's important to know that System Restore might not fix the encrypted files, but it can help in returning your computer system to a state before the ransomware infected it.

Ransomware, like EIUR, works by getting into your computer, usually pretending to be a harmless program. Once inside, it locks your important files, such as documents, pictures, and videos, by changing them and adding .eiur to the end of each file name. It also leaves a note in every folder that has locked files. This note, usually named _readme.txt, tells you that your files are locked and gives you instructions that the attackers claim will unlock your files.

The way EIUR ransomware usually gets onto your computer is through programs that look safe but are actually harmful. These programs are often found bundled with other software that you might download from the internet, especially from sites that are not well-known or trusted. If you've recently downloaded something from the internet and then started noticing these .eiur files, that download might be how the ransomware got onto your computer.

It's also worth noting that EIUR ransomware is a type of .STOP ransomware, which is a known family of ransomware that has been causing problems for computer users by locking their files in a similar way.
