What is a .GWB file?
A .GWB file is a type of file used for presentations, similar to a PowerPoint file but specifically made by a program called Interwrite Workspace. This program is designed to help make classroom lessons more interactive and engaging. Inside a GWB file, you can find different pages that might have notes written on them, important points highlighted, drawings, pictures taken from a computer screen (screenshots), and charts or graphs. These files are meant to be opened with a program called InterWrite Reader, but it's important to note that this program is no longer available.
When using Interwrite Workspace, you can create new pages for your presentation by using tools that let you make new pages from scratch or capture parts of your screen. You can also add annotations, which means you can write or draw directly on these pages to emphasize certain points or explain things in more detail. As soon as you start adding these annotations, the program automatically saves your work in a GWB file. This file gets updated every time you make a change, so you don't lose your work.
You can use GWB files in a few different ways, like printing out your presentation to hand out in class or sending it via email to other people who use InterWrite software. This can be really handy for sharing your lessons or presentations with students or colleagues.
Interwrite Workspace is part of a bigger set of tools that work with something called an Interwrite Board. Although the specific products made by Interwrite Learning have been merged into other technologies developed by a company called Turning Technologies, the idea behind them remains focused on making learning more dynamic and interactive with digital tools.
