What is a .IFW file?
The .IFW file extension is a type of file called an INTUS Firmware File. These files are important for specific devices made by a company called PCS Systemtechnik. The devices, known as INTUS terminals, are used in various places for keeping track of timecards, controlling who can access certain areas, and gathering data.
The .IFW file contains special software (called firmware) that is used to update or improve how the INTUS terminals work. Think of it like updating the operating system on your phone or computer to get new features or fix problems.
To update an INTUS terminal with a .IFW file, you need to use a specific program made by PCS Systemtechnik called INTUS RemoteConf. This program allows you to send the update to the terminal so it can install the new firmware.
It's important to note that not all INTUS terminals can be updated with the .IFW files using any software. Older terminals, like the INTUS 3100, 3450, 5300, and others, cannot use the .IFW files for updates. These older models used a different program called INTUS RemoteSetup for updates. However, the newer models, such as the INTUS 5500 and 5600, require the RemoteConf software to handle the .IFW firmware updates.
