What is a .NBF file?
The .NBF file extension stands for a "Backup Now Archive." This type of file is created by a program called NTI Backup Now. It's essentially a container or a storage box for copies of your computer's files and folders. Think of it as a safety net: if something bad happens to your original files, like if they get damaged or accidentally deleted, you can use the .NBF file to bring them back.
When you create a backup using NTI Backup Now, it saves all the copied files into one of these .NBF files. These backup files are usually named in a sequence, such as "backup_001.nbf," "backup_002.nbf," and so on, making it easier to organize and find them later.
To open or use an .NBF file, you'll need the NTI Backup Now software. This is the program that can understand the format of the .NBF file and knows how to unpack the files inside it, so you can restore them to your computer if needed.
It's worth noting that there's a similar-sounding file extension used by newer versions of Nokia PC Suite, which is .NBU. Despite the similarity in their names, .NBU files serve a different purpose and are used for backing up data from Nokia phones, not for computer file backups like the .NBF files.
