What is a .VDA file?

A .VDA file is a type of picture file known as a Targa Bitmap Image File. This means it's a photo or image that's saved in a special way, using the Targa Truevision format. When an image is saved as a .VDA file, it can show a lot of detail because it uses between 1 and 32 bits for each tiny dot (pixel) that makes up the picture. Most of the time, it uses 24 bits for the colors you see (red, green, and blue) and another 8 bits for the alpha channel, which controls how see-through the image is.

You can open .VDA files with several different programs, including Adobe Photoshop 2023 and Adobe Illustrator 2023, which are popular for editing images and creating graphics. Canvas GFX's Canvas X Pro is another program that can handle these files, mainly used by professionals for technical illustrations. If you need to convert a .VDA file into a different format, you might use fCoder Group's Image Converter Plus+ or Graphic Region's Able DXF Manager. Fast Image Converter is another tool for quickly changing the file type.

The TARGA format, where .VDA files come from, was created by a company called Truevision. This company was later bought by Pinnacle Systems. Although the TARGA format is closely associated with the .TGA file extension, .VDA files are a part of this family too, offering a way to store images with high quality and detail.
