What is a .VDATA file?
A .VDATA file is a special type of file that is used by an app called Vaulty, which is available for Android devices. Vaulty is an app designed to help people keep their personal images and videos private and secure. When someone uses Vaulty to hide a picture or a video on their Android phone or tablet, the app changes that picture or video into a .VDATA file. This means that the original photo or video, which could be in common formats like .PNG (a type of image file), .JPG (another type of image file), or .3GP (a video file format), is encoded or transformed into a .VDATA file. This process helps to keep the file secret and safe from others who might use the same device.
To open a .VDATA file, you would typically need to use the Vaulty app on an Android device. This is because the .VDATA file is designed to work with Vaulty and is encrypted or locked in a way that makes it hard to open or view the file without using Vaulty. However, there is also a program called Squid Tooth Vaulty+ that can open these files, providing another option for accessing the content of a .VDATA file.
When Vaulty hides a file, it usually renames the file using a series of numbers and then stores it in a specific folder on the device's SD card. This folder is often named DCIM/Vaulty. The renaming and hiding of the file are part of what makes the file private and protects it from being easily found or viewed by someone who is not supposed to see it.
